A pretty decent audience recording of a very early MELVINS show, playing with an also new-ish Soundgarden, all opening for the mighty Husker Du! What a show! And check that setlist, it's a lot of great Melvins oldies. Anyone else with any old Melvins? Please share! - DH
EDIT:
I should clarify that it's a guess that this is that exact show. The tape has nothing written in it, but the J card says 2/27/85 Omni Room. There was no show on Feb 27th of 1985. There was a show on Feb 24th at the Omni Room, and there was a show that was on Jan 27th also at the Omni Room. It's very possible the month was written incorrectly, or the specific day was off by a few. We don't know the original taper, and there's nothing in the set to indicate which show it was. Perhaps someday the mystery will be solved.
MELVINS - February 24th, 1985 @ Gorilla Gardens Omni Room, Seattle, WA
BUGHOUSE were a band from my hometown of Rochester, NY. I don't think they ever toured or played outside our general area much at all, and I don't think they had much for releases either. But in Rochester, they were a loved band. They brought people out to shows, and a bill like this, with Windbreed and Pigmaster was a pretty big show considering there were no touring bands. This sort of started fizzling out a year or two later, especially as bands from the scene started breaking up. Thankfully I had a tape on hand to pop into the soundboard to catch some peak Bughouse. At the end, Pigmaster and Windbreed members joined them onstage for an improvised encore, that is included on this upload as well. If you like Rochester bands, I hope you dig this rare gem! - DH
