Here's some Japanese punk for ya via OUTO. I'm not super familiar with them, beyond that "I Like Cola" song, though I did download their discography years ago and would throw it on every once in a while. I liked what I heard but it didn't ever grab me like some other bands from Japan did. But hey, music is like that. It can be fun to hear but not everything can be your favorite and occupy space in your head . I still appreciate a chance to hear them live through this tape, hopefully you do as well! - DH
No idea who CONDEMNED is, except that they were from Japan. But this demo is a ripper. It's short, but dang, it hits the spot. Anyone know more about these folks? - DH
Another random mysterious demo from the Dodge collection, this time from a band called DESPAIR from Japan. It's pretty badass punk from 1993, but sounds like a lot of more modern punk bands that you'd find coming out of the PNW in the US in the last 20 years. Just hard charging tunes that steamroll from start to finish. I don't know if they have any records out or if there's other material, but it would be a shame if this was all there was. Still, what a badass tape to have as your only release if that's the way it is, as it's just pretty spot on. If anyone knows more about these folks, please chime in! - DH
I don't know anything about this demo from HADES at all. It's Japanese punk, likely from the early 90's, but with a name like that I can't really get any hits from the ol search engines. Hopefully a friend will fill me in with any relevant info and I can repost it here. So just take it for what it is, awesome Japanese hardcore punk. - DH
Today's post is from the rock n roll juggernaut that is LIP CREAM! This is from a neat bootleg tape I was given a long time ago, probably something just done quickly and in low numbers and sold at a punk show or two. I think I have this set on video, and more likely than not some copy of that video was probably the source for this tape, it looks like a VHS sourced audio based on the wav file. Anyhoo, I wish it was better sounding, but figured it's Lip Cream, it's worthy of the upload for someone that needs just a bit more Japanese hardcore in their collection. - DH
Nearly 30 years later, NIRVANA still has unreleased recordings finding their way online. This one is a soundboard from their Japan tour in 1992, which was just released for the first time as part of a 4 CD set that documents all 4 nights of Nirvana's Japanese tour. Someone posted a FLAC set ripped from the Kawasaki night and posted it on Reddit, seemed a bit heavy on the bass so I put it through Izotope Rx8 to see if I could push it down further in the mix. It's still there, as it should be, but doesn't dominate the way it was before. I included FLACs of my edit, as well as the Zip file as it was posted to Reddit that is untouched (except for the awful "mastering" the bootleg maker did, oof). Hopefully someday a copy of the actual tape this was recorded on, pre-mastering, comes out.
For now, enjoy a rather tired and sloppy Nirvana set at what must have been nearly a year on the road. It still has it's charms and it's a rather clear and well mixed soundboard outside of the bass being a bit high, so I thought I'd share in case anyone else was curious to hear this too. - DH
